The Project
Walt Disney and Leon Schusters production team were struggling with their social media and digital strategy when it came to their Mad Buddies movie. The film wasn’t engaging with its fans and awareness of the Mad Buddies Movie on social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter was practically non-existant.
What we did
IShack implemented a social media campaign on Twitter and Facebook to generate awareness and loyalty amongst fans by encouraging engagement. Responding to iShack Innovation’s consulting advice from veteran digital, start up and social media expert, Wayne Berger (top 10 international MBA), Walt Disney commissioned Mad Buddies actors Leon Shuster and Kenneth Nkosi to begin interacting with their fans on social networks and suddenly the film’s Facebook fan page exploded.
Not only did Ishack Innovation introduced the stars of Mad Buddies to social media, Ishack Innovation implemented a number of social media and digital initiatives to help boost interest and interaction with Mad Buddies. Ishack developed the Mad Buddies Match Game, Fan Fridays and licensed our red hot digital start up, the social voting solution, VotingMonkey.com.
Results
Leon Shuster’s Mad Buddies Movie Facebook fan page exploded, growing more than 12x the original base and most importantly, the movie broke Leon Schuster’s open weekend Box Office record with movie ticket sales upwards of a magnificent R4,5 million.
